ODE TO ZAYED 2018

The installation marks the ‘Year of Zayed’ and the centenary celebration of the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The artwork was unveiled at The Renaissance Hotel, Business Bay, Dubai on 25 April 2018.

In a short span of me, the United Arab Emirates has emerged as a global hub for innovation, trading, creativity, travel, and culture. None of this would have come to be if it was not for the vision of the Founding Father of the UAE, who saw the future in the sands and unified the Emirates.

Seven sand from the seven Emirates merges to form the canvas of the UAE from which a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan emerges on the ‘Column of Unity’. As the reflection merges with the portrait of Zayed on the steel post, ‘The Man & The Vision’ offers visitors a moment of introspection and inspires them to strive for unity, harmony, and growth, the cornerstones of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s dream for the UAE.
